從發想到完成學位論文的寫作，是痛苦而漫長的過程，還是快樂而充滿驚喜的旅程? 我們可不可能把課堂上所學到的研究方法，融入日常生活的情境之中，讓研究素材俯拾即是，讓創新思考變成習慣? 在做研究、寫論文之前，要怎麼構思我們將要研究的事物，要如何將自己對社會、對世界的認知注入新生命，在認為理所當然的事物上發現新問題? 在寫作的過程中，我們如何跳脫傳統、制式、單一的概念框架和法則，整合不同的研究途徑，使用不同的方法收集可靠的資料，從多元、創新的視角來觀察、思考，展現出所研究對象的多重面向，找到新的可能性、發展新的範疇和理論? 更重要的是，能否將研究方法內化為社會實踐的思維模式，在探究真理真相的同時，以實際行動、議程影響國家社會，對不同層面的社會、科學問題作出判斷和決策?
本課程針對研究生實際操作個案研究及論文寫作的需求，提供選課學生跨領域整合(人類學、社會學、政治學、地理學等)、多元、創新的研究架構與概念，不但介紹最新的研究方法與科技技術並以最簡明、易懂的方式說明，結合具體事例及個案，引導學生掌握研究方法與竅門，學習如何根據所要研究的事物特性來選擇分析途徑及工具，如何解構自己對研究的原初立場，重新建構更多元且具彈性的想像空間。本課程強調多元背景的互動，在上個案分析討論課時，學生會隨機分組討論不斷拋出的特定議題，相互激盪、交流學習，培養更開放的胸襟、更寬廣的視野，容許與自己不同的立場與可能，形成多元而豐富的研究思維。

課程目標 Objectives

1. 有能力作出可處理重要社會議題的研究設計，對特定的學術文獻、理論框架作出間接或直接貢獻。
2. 有能力在具有潛在衝突的方法論準則之間作出判斷以及最適合進行中研究的選擇。
3. 運用系統性、批判性的創意思考來設計研究問題，並具備有效的溝通和互動能力執行研究。
4. 在反覆練習、交流的過程中建構多元而具敏感度的研究視角。

授課方式 Teaching methods

每周課程主要分成兩個部分：(1) 研究方法介紹及討論。(2)「研究工作坊」 (research workshop)。每週課程的第一部份為概念講解與討論，每個同學在上課前，必需閱讀該週指定文本，鼓勵學生發表自己的觀點並提出問題共同討論，經由激盪式的意見交流，將相關知識內化。課程的第二部份為 research workshop (60 分鐘)，workshop 主要目的是根據該週的主題，選擇研究個案進行討論，同學也可提出自己正在進行中或已完成的研究，分享彼此的經驗與困難，相互交流來自不同領域、背景、主題的知識圖像，對所觀察事物的解讀產生不同面向的論述。
