The course presents the fundamental principles, concepts, and technological elements of medical informatics, health information system, and associated management. It introduces the concepts of population health and clinical care in the information era. It also covers health information technology (HIT) applied to clinical and administrative operations and the role of management, including electronic medical record system, clinical decision support, and tele-medicine. The associated ethical and legal issues will be addressed. Lastly, we will discuss how information technology would improve health care access, enhance quality of care, and facilitate medical research.
課程目標 Objectives
The objective of the course is to develop theoretical and practical understanding of information processing and communication applied to health care environment. Specific goals are: 1. Introduce students to problems and challenges addressed by medical informatics 2. Introduce students to the research and practice in the field of health information system 3. Discuss the impacts of the improvement in information technology on health care industries 4. Discuss the role of management in health information system 5. Address ethical and legal issues in medical informatics

Internship: The required or elective courses should include credits and learning hours. Students should participate in the corporative company or institution to practice and learn the real skills.
