The course addresses perspectives, concepts and theories of health economic evaluation. Methods for evaluating healthcare interventions, such as cost-effectiveness analysis, cost-benefit analysis, and cost-utility analysis are examined in detail. It further explores other theories and concepts, such as cost measurement, benefit valuation, incremental decision-making, and sensitivity analysis. Tools of decision-analytic modelling will be introduced and demonstrated. Types of health intervention discussed in the class range from medical treatment at an individual level to health policy affecting multiple individuals in a society. By taking this course, students are expected to develop knowledge and methods of economic evaluation in healthcare, and the ability to plan, interpret and critically review associated studies.

After completing the course, students should be able: - to describe the theory, principles and methods of economic evaluation - to critically analyze a scientific journal article in the field of health economic evaluation - to perform a basic economic evaluation with decision analytic modelling

The class will be held with a mixed format of lecturing, in-class discussion, and student's presentation.

Internship: The required or elective courses should include credits and learning hours. Students should participate in the corporative company or institution to practice and learn the real skills.
