The course aims to provide the student an overview of how to conduct academic research in social sciences. It is designed for those who are in pursuit of a proper approach for their research. Fundamental topics include research foundations, methodological choices, research design, research process, as well as research analysis and report. The contents will cover both quantitative and qualitative methodologies and introduce essential concepts and techniques for applying both types of research approaches.

課程目標 Objectives

         Upon completion of the course, students are expected to:
• Articulate fundamental requirements of different methodologies
• Critique methodological appropriateness of academic papers
• Design a proper methodology for their research proposal
• Apply quantitative or qualitative techniques to their research
