課程大綱 Course syllabus

         This course teaches basic statistical concepts and applications.

課程目標 Objectives

         The students understand how to use statistical methods to analyze data in practice.

授課方式 Teaching methods

         1. Classes are mainly lecture-based, and the students are often asked to answer questions in class.
2. The assessment includes two written exams, a computer-based exam, and class participation. The first written exam ranges from the lectures in the first class in the semester to the week before the exam. The second written exam covers the contents of all the lectures in this semester. The computer-based exam tests whether the students know how to use statistical software and read the report.
3. This is a required subject for the students in Department of Finance. The loading of this course is heavy. Students not in Department of Finance should deliberate and discuss the motivation with the instructor before selecting this course.
