課程大綱 Course syllabus

         This course offers an introduction to construct, to estimate, and to evaluate empirical representations of theoretical propositions about politics and international relations. The course emphasizes the
formulation of positive theories; the derivation of hypotheses from, and the specification of empirical
models of, those theories; and the use of data to test those hypotheses and estimate those empirical models.



課程目標 Objectives

         This course offers an introduction to construct, to estimate, and to evaluate empirical representations of theoretical propositions about politics and international relations. The course emphasizes the
formulation of positive theories; the derivation of hypotheses from, and the specification of empirical
models of, those theories; and the use of data to test those hypotheses and estimate those empirical models.



授課方式 Teaching methods

         Students are expected to keep up with all the required readings and to attend all classes. As this course is designed as a seminar, active student participation is essential. A seminar means that you will be treated as a junior colleague in the academia, who is expected to contribute to discussion by sharing your own perspective on all of the readings. So, please come to class with questions and let our seminar team learn more.
