This course provides students opportunities to work with local companies and communities. In this course, through completing a real project for a local company and community, students can enhance their problem-solving capabilities, improve their team-working skills in a cross-cultural background, understand issues relevant to social responsibility, and earn experiences in working with a local companies (your clients) which may not be familiar with English. We will divide the whole class into several groups, and each group should have a member understanding Taiwanese culture so that you can efficiently communicate with your local client and engage in the local community. In the beginning of this course, we will give you some basic ideas regarding how to properly provide management consulting services, and assist your clients to find and solve problems. Then, we will have some arrangements, such as group discussion, field trips, or guest lectures, which can give you basic background knowledge about the product and the industry of the company we will visit in this course. Finally, you will cooperate with TAs, professors and managers in the company to find and solve a real business problem. This semester, we will visit Lung Soon Ocean Group (隆順漁業集團), a fishery corporate group whose headquarters is located at Cianjhen, Kaohsiung (高雄前鎮). They are a world leader in harvesting, processing, preparation and supply of quality tuna and seafood. From the ocean to the plate, Lung Soon Ocean Group has established a global fishing, sourcing, selling, marketing and distribution network to bring quality tuna and seafood to consumers worldwide. They employ more than 2500 people all over the world, and operate their business across three oceans.

Internship: The required or elective courses should include credits and learning hours. Students should participate in the corporative company or institution to practice and learn the real skills. An internship certification must be handed in at the end of internship to get the credits or to fulfil the graduation requirements.
