在多變滋擾的環境，企業組織生存要面臨比以往個嚴峻的挑戰，全球市場競爭激烈，詭譎多變。面對多元與多樣的文化、經濟與政治環境。原有的技術、產品、原料、人力成本或物流所創造的競爭優勢逐漸被侵蝕。企業組織為追求生存與成長需持續不間斷地審視組織與環境的適配並進行改變，而審視與改變需要組織發展與變革的知識，組織發展是組織變革的手段與應用，藉由組織行為科學知識與掌握，提升組織運作和績效，培養成員改變能力。組織發展不僅是變革的一環，且是於推動執行變革的過程。組織發展是整合理論與實務，在於提高組織的運作效率。組織發展是一套以證據為基礎的嚴謹思考與實務經驗，協助組織自我實踐之管理知識
