1. Classes are mainly lecture-based, and the students are often asked to answer questions in class. 2. The assessment includes two written exams, a computer-based exam, and a term paper. The first written exam ranges from the lectures in the first class in the semester to the week before the exam; the second written exam covers the content of all the lectures in this and the previous semesters. The computer-based exam is to test whether the students know how to use statistical software (EXCEL and R) for analysis and to read the report. 3. The term paper includes an oral presentation and a soft copy. The followings are the instructions for the term paper: (1) Each student must participate in the term paper. Each term paper is developed and edited by a group of up to four people. (2) The score of the term paper depends on the quality of oral presentation, the final report, and the peer evaluation. (3) The data of the term paper must be true. If the forged data or plagiarism is found, each of the team member will get zero point in the term paper. (4) Please do not think that you will certainly get high grades on the term paper. If the requirements are not met, you may still get a bad score on the term paper. (5) In the oral presentation, the instructor will specify the order of the members of each team. The members in one team may receive different scores on the term paper, depending on the presentation performance. 4. If the score of the computer-based exam is fewer than 50, the score of the term paper will be calculated at a discount rate of 50%. For example, assume that the two students, A and B, collaborate on the term paper, and the original score of the term paper is 80. A and B, respectively, get 100 and 40 points in the computer-based exam. Then, the score of the term paper to A and B will be 80 and 40, respectively. 5. The term paper will set the deadline. To ensure the quality of the term paper and to motivate the students to prepare for the term paper early, all students are welcome to discuss the direction with the instructor. However, all questions should be asked before 5:00 p.m. on the fourth day before the deadline of the term paper so as to have enough time to modify the paper. 6. This is a required subject for the students in Department of Finance. We will use a large number of financial and accounting terms. The term paper will analyze the financial data. Students who have not completed Financial Management (I) are strongly recommended not to select this course. The loading of this course is heavy. Students not in Department of Finance should deliberate and discuss with the instructor before selecting this course.
