Students are in this way introduced
to the field of consumption (or “consumer culture”) that spans philosophy, literary
studies, history, anthropology and sociology. We will explore in particular the
economic, social and political influence of consumption upon social issues such as
lifestyles, identities and environmental sustainability

課程目標 Objectives

         This course guides students on a journey through the history of how we have come
to understand ourselves as consumers. In doing so, it reveals profound ambiguities
and ambivalences in societies across the world.

授課方式 Teaching methods

         Class contents
The course will combine short lectures based on real-life examples, international
news, documentaries, group activities and presentations. A guest speaker will be
confirmed closer to the date.
