Companies nowadays must respond to ethical challenges and demand for corporate social responsibility (CSR). This course deals with a number of morally and legally thorny issues that arise in the business settings. Special emphasis is placed on the interrelated nature of ethics, moral, legal, social and economic issues in managing individuals, groups, and the organization within a business environment. Different nations have different legal and moral traditions, complicating the difficult task of differentiating the acceptable conducts from the unacceptable. We will examine the arguments raised from conflicting viewpoints. Through business cases we will also discuss how responses to ethical challenges were translated into CSR practices.

課程目標 Objectives

The goal of this course is to examine ongoing and emerging controversies concerning those topics such as the leader’s character, responsibility management, labor rights, stakeholder value, environmentalism, and the globalization of the economy.
