課程大綱 Course syllabus |
|
This course introduces and explores some perennial questions, for example, what does it mean to be human? how to live the good life? how to live one’s life, how to tell right from wrong, how to separate goodness from good things, what is virtue, justice, wisdom, what sort of life is worthwhile, etc. By seeking answers to these questions that have fascinated thinkers since the beginning of philosophy and by examining related issues and working them through, we shall consider if and whether philosophy has contribution(s) to make in furthering our understandings of ethics and leading ethical life. To begin, we shall consider this question: can ethics and the ethical life be separated from politics? If so, how? If not, why not? And what exactly is politics? What is the relationship between politics and philosophy? Is there such a thing as political philosophy? And what is the use of political philosophy?
