This course discusses health care management at an introductory level. Essential functions and operations in health care settings will be introduced. The class will also examine the interrelationship with health policy, health delivery system, and associated industries. Several topics in management such as professional human resources, healthcare operations, medical technology and information system, quality of care, leadership, legal and ethical issues, and long-term care will be discussed. By taking the class, we hope to stimulate students' interest in this field and to inspire their career planning.

• Understand perspectives and values of health care management • Understand the big picture of health care markets and what healthcare organizations are trying to accomplish in today's changing industry • Understand the impacts of health information technology on healthcare delivery and management • Critically assess the impacts of health policy and legal, ethical, social issues on health services management • Integrate health care management theory and tools to analyze the challenges and opportunities of health care operations

Internship: The required or elective courses should include credits and learning hours. Students should participate in the corporative company or institution to practice and learn the real skills.
