《孫子兵法》是策略哲學,是贏的哲學。熟稔之,則可觀察勝敗、構思策略、贏得勝利。孫子不為一時、一地、一人、一事而說法,實為千萬人、千萬事、千萬地、千萬世而說法,故能放之四海,彌諸八方,馳騁中西,歷久彌新。國家盛衰存亡的死生之地、企業逐鹿中原的死生之地、乃至於個人安身立命的死生之地,無不盡括。 執行力和領導力的道理亦在其中,故領導者不可不察,欲有所作為的人亦不可不察。本課程將詳細講述「孫子兵法」十三篇的策略哲學,從管理和人生的各種案例去印證兵法之理,探索其中的策略、原理、智慧,以導向本課程對著策略管理相關問題提供華人風格的觀點和方案。 本課程將要求學生高度參與討論孫子兵法中的策略原理,繳交個人如何使用孫子兵法在生涯發展和規劃的期中心得報告,並進行課堂期末考,以幫助學生學習考孫子兵法。 The Art of War of “Sun Zi” is essentially a philosophy of strategy, a brilliant treatise on how to win. One who gets well-educated by it knows how to conduct win-loss observations, how to craft strategies, and in sum how to prepare for a victory. “Sun Zi” is not intended in particular for one time, one place, one person, or one thing, but in general for long-lived purpose, for all places, for thousands of hundreds of people, and for all situations, as long as win, or loss, concerns us all. Therefore, the principles established in “Sun Zi” have been universally applicable to military, politics, business, sport, management, diplomats, and what not. It has also been widely held that “Sun Zi” is useful for not only the East but also the West. From its never-outdated teachings, people have learned that it bears those life-or-death principles, which constitute fundamental to a nation, a corporate, a team, a firm, an individual, or anything. Theories in regard to execution and leadership are thus included in the course, which will go through the 13 chapters of “Sun Zi” thoroughly aided by management cases and application examples in explicating the strategies and principles embedded to get oriented toward providing the alternative, Chinese-styled, perspectives and schemes for the tackle of the relevant problems in strategic management. The course, while discussing the “Sun Zi” strategic principles, asks for a high-level participation from the class to raise and respond to questions. Students need to submit the mid-term report on individual basis regarding how they apply the principles to their lives, particularly their career planning and development. At the semester’s end, there will be a Final exam.
