In business, there is no replacement for effective management. A company may fly high for a while, but it cannot maintain that success for long without good management. Having enrolled in an MBA program you have probably asked yourself the question what is “good management”, what makes a “good manager”, and how can I apply the material I learn in this course in my daily life as a manager? This course is organized around the four main functions of management (planning, organizing, leading, and controlling) and takes you on a journey to explore possible answers to these questions. The course provides an overview of the central themes in Organization Theory & Management and discusses their relevance both in scientific and practical terms. We will study how organizations function and how they affect and are affected by the environment in which they operate. Organization Theory & Management is concerned with the ‘big picture’ of the organization and directly relevant to top- and middle management.

課程目標 Objectives

The goal of this course is to help you learn what it takes to become an effective and successful manager. It will develop your capacity to use the basic paradigms, theories and concepts of Organization Theory & Management and help you develop your critical thinking ability.
After completing this course, you should be able to:
• Identify and define key themes, concepts and discussions in Organization Theory & Management.
• Understand, explain and in a critical way use core concepts of Organization Theory & Management.
• Carry out critical analysis, using key Organizational Theory & Management concepts in empirical and theoretical reasoning.
