課程大綱 Course syllabus

This course will help you to understand human resource policies and practices. In particular, you’ll learn the role and importance of human resource management (HRM) in the complex cross-border phenomena. How and why does HRM differ across the world. You’ll examine how international companies address these challenges. Besides these topics, this class includes the proactive role of HRM with considering the interactive relationship between strategy and HRM.

課程目標 Objectives

         The course encourages you to think more critically issues related to HRM and to approach more practically to the skills required to manage people.
General learning objectives:
• Identify the main differences between domestic and international HRM.
• Understand the challenges of international HRM.
• Recognize how managing expatriates helps to improve their performance and minimize their business failures in international assignments.
• Understand the future trends and challenges of international HRM.
• Appreciate the impact of local cultural and institutional influences on the practices of global organizations.
Instructor specific learning objectives:
• Students will understand the management issue and corporate cultures of Asian firms.
• Students will learn HRM practices which was introduced in class based on instructor’ working experience in the multinational company. For example, instructor will introduce SAMSUNG’s management practices.
• Students will build the capability to understand theory and translate this knowledge into practice.

         Teaching and Learning Methodology
• Lectures illustrated on the PowerPoint to develop a clear understanding of the relevant concepts.
• Group project and individual assignments to reinforce learning of key concepts.
• Case studies that help students understand actual events and policies.
• Relevant videos will be shown in class.
