課程大綱 Course syllabus

This course aims to introduce students with cross-culture management perspectives and provide them with broad understand of definition of culture. Students are expected to learn the environmental factors in the international cultural settings, such as globalization, internationalization, political environment, legal environment, ethics, social responsibility and sustainability. The role of culture, organizational culture and diversity, cross-cultural communication and negotiation, and management across cultures will be discussed throughout the course design.

課程目標 Objectives

         With class presentations, group discussion, case studies and other teaching methods, this course will include sociocultural demographics, economics, technology, diversity, political-legal issues, communications and negotiations, processes of decision making, and leadership across cultures. As students from different counties/culture will constitute this class, students will begin with the awareness of their own cultures, and then proceed with the understanding of foreign cultures. Learning objectives are (1) better understand the definition of culture and how it applies to international cultural issues; (2) review the concepts and issues surrounding international culture and business management in the globalization setting; (3) comprehend the meaning and dimensions of culture, organizational cultures and diversity, and across-cultural issues; (4) learn specific skills and knowledge in motivation, leadership, decision making, management, human resource selection, and human resource development across cultures. Students ultimately will need to complete a project that applies the knowledges and skills from this course.

授課方式 Teaching methods

         Lectures will be given. Students are expected to have in-class group discussions, presentations, and participations throughout the course.
