The purpose of this course is to help you understand cultural and institutional environment in Asia pacific region. This course focuses on South Korea, China, and Japan as exemplars of the commercial practices in the region. For example, you will learn institutions such as the Korean chaebol and key cultural mores such as Chinese guanxi.
Because this is a special field without any textbook with good coverage of core content, we will use materials that are interesting, relevant, and academically rigorous from all kinds of publications. This course requires no prior knowledge; any economic theory or other concepts will be taught within the curriculum.

課程目標 Objectives

         The knowledge and skills you develop in this course will be critical to you as you plan your business in Asia and manage your relationships with co-workers, bosses, and subordinates who have Asian background. Specific objectives are as follows:
• Understand Asian business environment in general;
• Become familiar with major Asian companies and their business
operations;
• Extends ability to critically analyze the contemporary business environment in Asia Pacific region;
• Gain practical knowledge for engaging in international business activities both within the region and with business people from the region.
