Welcome to the course, Entrepreneurship and HRM, the Chinese title as 創業精神與人力資源管理, it is a research method course. The students have to learn it by doing. Moreover, you have to study the essential theories regarding social network. Thus, the course is divided by three sections. First, reading and learning theories regarding social network. Second, collecting data from real case, and third, analyzing the data by Gephi.
課程目標 Objectives
Your performance is team-based. You have to co-work with your team members collaboratively. Because in the later stage of this course, you have to visit a real company or organization to conduct questionnaire by using social network questionnaire, so each team need a team member is Taiwanese student, or a team member who can speak good Mandarin.
授課方式 Teaching methods
The agency which you chose to conduct the survey, could be a business or a division in a company, a government agency, or a NPO (non-profit organization). The entity should include 30 full-time or part-time workers, at least. There are several pros of using Gephi in the course. First, the software is free, more cheap than ucinet. Second, powerful visualization. Gephi is able to visualize social connection among individuals, groups, organizations, even countries, if you have a certain boundary of your research question. Third, good presentation tool for the company in your career path. Analyzing social connection of the participants, you are able to know who is/are the center of the various connections. It could be good for your employers and enhance your reputation in your job. Selecting the course, several things you should pay attention to. 1. I will teach you how to analyze the data you collected. We will have the course in RM 2023, it is a PC classroom, you don’t have to prepare your laptop in class. All you have to do is to have your brain in the course. 2. Software, Gephi, of course. You can download here: https://gephi.org. It is free, totally free. 3. You have to design a questionnaire to college data you want. By using the data, you have to analyse it in the couse. The course is suitable for MBA student and other Master students studying social science. Everything is taught by English.
