課程大綱 Course syllabus

This course introduces and discusses major contemporary developments in business and management, especially in Asia-Pacific region. Also, company visits will be arranged for students to see the internal operations, and how these organizations have turned practices, policies, and strategies into sustainable competitive advantages. Students are encouraged to participate in seminal debates about management practice, and to reflect on past developments. Overall, the foci are on the likely future direction of business management practices and evaluation of the key explanatory factors.

課程目標 Objectives

Upon the completion of this course, students are able to:
1.evaluate the changing characteristics of organizations;
2.develop a good understanding of the key contemporary developments and of their antecedents; and
3.be able to justify arguments and evidence, to think critically, and to evaluate different assumptions.

授課方式 Teaching methods

This course combines discussion, case study, lectures and company visit in the teaching. Students are required to attend lectures, participate in discussion and engage in regular reading as well as presentations to gain the most from the course.
