課程大綱 Course syllabus

         This course aims to equip students with state-of-the-art computer-aided design methodologies for multi-variable linear time invariant feedback control systems. The topics covered includes:
1. mathematical language for modeling engineering systems and describing design objectives
2. feedback control performance and limitations
3. stabilization and parametrization of all stabilizing controller
4. H2 and H-infinity optimal control
5. model reduction, uncertainty, and robustness

課程目標 Objectives

         This course is primarily aimed at studying state-of-the-art computer-aided model reduction, analysis, and feedback control design methodologies for multivariable systems, which possibily include nonlinear, time-varying, and/or uncertain components, but can be approximated well by linear time-invariant models. On completion of this subject, students are expected to have the skills of
1. applying modern optimization methodologies for designing multi-variable control systems;
2. understanding why some design objectives cannot be satisfied;
3. avoiding ill-posed optimization control problems;
4. predicting qualities of optimal controller.
