|
Marine environment, Biological adaptation;Plankton and nekton, Benthos,Production in the ocean, Ecosystem and trophodynamics Intertidal ecology Shallow subtidal communities Deep sea biology Estuaries and salt marsh Coral reef and mangrove Symbiotic relationship Human impact on the sea Global change and marine ecology Resources of Bluefin tunas, flying fish,sakura shrimp,and reef corals.

課程目標 Objectives |
|
Basic principles of ecology and marine ecosystems are the major components of the course. These components will lead the understanding in marine biology-major students of the processes in ecosystems through probing specific marine habitats. These knowledge is essential for students who seek essential knowledge in marine biology, environment conservation or fisheries management
|

授課方式 Teaching methods |
|
Half of the time is devoted to discussion the topic, and students writings, rather than lecturing. Significant amount of student writing and project preparation is required. All these work are posted in website of the course. Students are required to read at least some of them before the discussion. Field trips to marine ecosystems, with special assignment before the trip (internet survey of the target ecosystems), and post-trip discussion of human factor on the target ecosystems. Special focus on 4 target species whenever an example is needed. These 4 are Sakura krill,Bluefin tuna, coral reefs and flying fishes.
