課程大綱 Course syllabus |
|
This course is provided for undergraduate students. It covers the basic concept of general management and the contemporary managerial tools and practices. We will, firstly, discuss what managers do and the concepts behind their behaviours, the evolution of management theories, and the environment of management. Then, we will introduce the four management tasks – planning, organising, leading and controlling.

After finishing this course, students are expected to understand the basic concept of general management, and to apply these concepts to interpret and analyse real-world phenomenon.

授課方式 Teaching methods |
|
This course is lecture-based. Case studies and group discussion will also be implemented to assist students applying abstract concept to their daily lives. Curricular participation is crucial in this course. Students are requested to express their opinions in class or in e-Learning system. Certain points will be awarded based on the frequencies and quality of students’ participation. These points will be converted to final grading based on the following conditions: Points Final grading 0 0 1-5 5 6-15 10 16-40 15 >40 20 In order to keep the order in the classroom, students who disturb the proceeding in the class will be deducted 3 points of the final grades each time. The grading of written assignments will be deducted 5% and 10% if students failed to submit them on time. Moreover, NO grade will be awarded if students failed to submit their assignment within 48 hours after the due day. Special grade will be awarded to students who provide service to the class. Students have to enter the classroom on time during the exams. No re-exam will be provided for students who fail to participate exams In the end of semester, students have to submit the ‘peer evaluation form’ to assess the performance of their group members. The final grade of these group activities will be adjusted based on this peer evaluation system.
